About a year ago, Escher changed some drivers for Mame v59
that altered most of the rotary joystick games to be handled
properly with the SNK LS30 mechanical rotary joysticks (and also
the Happ 12-position rotary joysticks). Check out Escher's page on the
subject here. People on the BYOAC message board
brought up the topic again, and some were interested in having
the latest version of Mame (63) with the fix added. I went
through and found the parts of the drivers that Escher changed
(with a diff program) and moved those changes into the Mame
drivers. It was really easy, but I still can make no disclaimer
that it works right, or that the file is Ok, so use it at your
own risk!
Here's a quote from Escher's page:
"I've been getting lots of requests for the patches that I
did to change MAME input scheme for SNK rotary games... Well,
this is the ugly, but functional version for everyone to play
with. unzip these into your $MAMESRC/src directory (with -d flag)
and recompile.. In each Rotary game, set BUTTON 4 to input for
LEFT rotation and BUTTON 5 to input for RIGHT rotation. Have
fun!"
